What does it mean to Elope?

The definition of Eloping has changed a lot over the years. The elopements today are not your grandmothers’ elopements. In my opinion, an elopement is an intimate, meaningful and authentic wedding that truly represents you as a couple. It can be as luxurious or as simple as you want. It can be just the two of you, or you can be surrounded by your closest friends and family. You can elope on the top of a mountain after a 10-mile hike, on a rooftop in your favorite city, or in your own backyard. There is no right or wrong way to elope and no two elopements will be the same. They are perfectly YOU!

Little personal story, my Grandparents eloped (the old-fashioned way)! My grandma’s sister ran away to marry my grandpa’s brother. My grandparent went along to be the witnesses, but the bride and groom convinced them to elope as well. Both marriages lasted a lifetime!

I’ll be writing another blog on the pros and cons of a Big Wedding Vs Eloping. Check it out. In the meantime, think about what you and your love want to do on your wedding day. If you want to have an intimate wedding that reflects your relationship, where the focus of the day really is about the two of you and your love then I think eloping is the right choice for you! I’d love to be with you every step of the way capturing every priceless moment.
